Doris Elizabeth Tankersley Davis, 95, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Bolivar Medical Center. Funeral services will be at Rosedale Presbyterian Church, Tuesday September 14, 2010 at 11 a.m. under the direction of Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Sid Harmon officiating. Visitation will be from 10 - 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow the funeral in Beulah Cemetery.
Mrs. Davis was born December 8, 1914 to William Tankersley and Ora Bell Wolfe Tankersley in Washington, GA. She was married to William Vance Davis Jr. She was an Elder in Rosedale Presbyterian Church, taught Sunday school, was bookkeeper for the church and clerk of the session for many years.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
She is survived by a son, Billy Davis (Gai) of Cleveland; two granddaughters, Kim Rogers (Kevin) of Cleveland, Kelly Cress (Blake) of Ridgeland; four great grandchildren, Riley Elizabeth Rogers, Mary Tate Rogers, Davis Blake Cress and William Cole Cress.
Pallbearers will be Bill Parker, Jimmy House, Donny Whitten, James Strait, Leo McGee, Brad Adams, Ray Travis, and Homer Gant. Honorary pallbearers will be Cal Stribling, Jerry “Skeeter” Michael, Dixon Dossett and Will Gourley. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Rosedale Presbyterian Church or the Cleveland Presbyterian Church.
