Mrs. Evelyn Arvetta Cummins, 80, of Ruleville, passed away Monday, August 19, 2013, at North Sunflower Medical Center. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will follow beginning at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Butch Cummins officiating. Interment will be in Drew City Cemetery.
Mrs. Cummins was born August 3, 1933, in Belzoni, to Ulysses D. Parker and Annie Estes Parker. On December 23, 1953, she married Richard Ancle Cummins in Drew, MS. She worked for over 20 years as a Social and Activity Director at Walter B. Crook Nursing Facility and was very talented and passionate about her job. She was a member of Drew Baptist Church and was very involved in many different aspects of the church throughout her life. She was a great cook, loved to sing, was a people person, and she loved to talk. She never met a stranger. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ulysses D. and Annie Parker; husband, Richard Ancle Cummins; infant daughter, Shelia Elaine Cummins; sons, Buster Cummins and Jackie Joe Cummins; and brothers, U.D. Parker and Travis Red Parker.
Mrs. Cummins is survived by her son, Butch Cummins (Deonna) of Pope, MS; daughters, Sandra Cummins (Lori Good) of Houston, TX and Delia Cummins of Cleveland; daughter-in-law, Kathy Cummins of Ruleville; grandchildren, Allen Cummins (Melanie) of Batesville, Andy Cummins (Karen) of Pope, Beau Cummins (Jacklyn) of Petal, MS; Jade Cummins of Tupelo, Kelly Latham (Bryant) of Nashville, TN, Matt Cummins (Jennifer) of Rena Lara; and Michelle Parish of Houston, TX; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Allen Cummins, Andy Cummins, Beau Cummins, Matt Cummins, Bryant Latham, and Tristan Cummins.
