Franklin Yates
Franklin D. Yates, 73, of Drew, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2014, at his home. Memorial services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at West Drew Baptist Church.
Mr. Yates was born November 18, 1940, to William Henry Yates and Ozie Lee Mann Yates. In 1972, he married Eleanor Ruth Young in Cleveland, MS. He worked as a truck driver for Griffin Trucking for 30 years, loved to garden, loved work, and most of all loved playing with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and 2 sisters.
Mr. Yates is survived by his friend and companion, Shirley Knight of Drew; daughter, Angie Horne (B.J.) of Boyle, MS; adopted son, Chris Stogner (Crystal) of Cleveland; two sisters, Lucille Phillips of Jackson and Ruth Hill of Broken Arrow, OK; six brothers, Doug Yates (Donna) of Arkoma, OK, Joe Yates of Pocola, OK, Luther Yates of Kilmichael, Waldon Yates (Geneva) of Lakeland, Fl, Jimmy Yates (Debbie) of Grenada, and Earl Yates (Jewell) of Hamilton, AL; seven grandchildren, Reanna Horne, Kayla Horne, and Preston Horne, Evan, Dalwson, Cain, and Trinity Stogner; and many more relatives and friends.
