Ira Williams

Mr. Ira Leon Williams, 87, of Merigold, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at Joy Nursing and Rehab. Visitation will be 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 24, 2014, at the Cleveland Church of God. Celebration of Life services will immediately follow beginning at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday , December 24, 2014 with Pastor Greg Chamblee officiating. Interment will be in North Cleveland Cemetery.
Mr. Williams was born in Doddsville, MS on November 1, 1927 to Alonzo Williams and Elzada Williams. He proudly served the United States Army during the Korean War and continued his service until 1981 when he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. On June 1, 1947, he married Herbert Dell Henderson in Cleveland. He also farmed for over 48 years and was a member of the Cleveland Church of God.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo and Elzada Williams.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Herbert Dell Williams of Drew; daughter, Donna R. Weeks (Ted) of Madison; son, Keith D. Williams (Verdie Cile) of Laurelville, OH; sisters, Eloise Parker (Herman) of Tillatobia, and Wilodene Burrell (Bobby) of Hernando; Brother, Dennis (Joyce) Williams of Drew,Ms; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
