Mr. Alfred Burley Smith, 80, of Cleveland, Mississippi, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2010. Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Friday April 30, 2010at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Artie Nute and Rev. John Thomas. Burial will follow at Delta Heights Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2010 also at Ray Funeral Home.
Mr. Smith was born September 27, 1929 to Bob and Veda Smith in Runnels County, Tx and was reared in Texas as well. He married Mrs. Peggy Ray on February 2, 1952. They were married for 57 years. He served in the United States Army in Germany. He was an electrical engineer and traveled extensively with his job and made friends throughout the world. He was loved dearly by his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a deacon and a mason.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Veda Smith; daughter, Pam Kelley; and a grand-daughter, Kennedy Smith.
He is survived by a wife, Peggy Ray Smith of Cleveland, MS; daughter, Cindy Weaver (Tony) of Cascilla, MS; son, Joe Smith (Alice) of Boyle, Ms; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Charles Gilmer, Mark Carpenter, Charles “Buster” Bingham, Burney Jones, Jr., Ellis Earls, and John William Ray.
Memorials can be made The Building Fund at Morrison Chapel.
