Alice Nell Brown, 75, of Rosedale, MS, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, in Rosedale. Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 2019, at Ray Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 2019, at Ray Funeral Home.
Alice was born on February 27, 1943, to Walter and Margaret Brown in Wahalak, MS. On May 11, 1959, she married Willie Gene Brown in Shaw, MS. Alice worked as a Seed Technician for Delta and Pine Land Company for 19 years before retiring. She was amazing at quilting, sewing, crocheting, cooking and singing. Alice enjoyed shopping especially at Walmart. Alice loved all of her kids, animals and anyone she came across. She especially loved to spoil her grandchildren and great-grandchildren every chance she could. Alice had a heart for listening and helping others with problems and thoroughly enjoyed life. She was a mother to many in the community and touched so many lives. Alice was known as an angel without her wings but now she has her wings.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Willie Gene Brown; son, Charles "Pee Wee" Bridges; grandson, William Thomas Hancock, III; parents, Walter and Margaret Brown; and two siblings.
Alice is survived by her seven children, Allen Keith Gilliland (Liz) of Desoto, MO, Howard Lee Brown (Karol) of Rosedale, Bobby Dean Brown of Catoosa, OK, Alice Jane Leach (Burell) of Brandon, Pamela Brown Hancock of Rosedale, Margaret Brown Chisolm of Rosedale, and Anthony Rhine Brown (Lisa) of Strayhorne, MS; 19 grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and many others that called her Nanny.
