Barbara was born on January 19, 1946, in Columbus, MS, she was the daughter of Albert and Edith Mable Martin Savage. At a young age, her family moved to Cleveland, where Barbara attended and graduated from Cleveland High School, laying the foundation for a life devoted to service and care.

Barbara pursued her education at Delta State University to obtain her prerequisites for nursing. Her passion for nursing ignited during this time, prompting her to continue her studies at Mississippi Delta Community College, where she earned her associate’s degree. With unwavering dedication, Barbara made her dream a reality, becoming an exceptional nurse. For over 50 years, Barbara served in various capacities within the nursing field, beginning her career as an EMT before advancing to LPN and then RN. Throughout her distinguished career, she dedicated herself to the well-being of countless families, delivering babies and saving lives. Her commitment to training new nurses, coupled with her passion for nursing, left an indelible mark on her colleagues and the community of Cleveland. The care, support, and love she extended to so many will forever be cherished, as she played an instrumental role in shaping the lives of those around her.

After the passing of her first husband, Luther, Barbara continued to engage deeply with her ministry in nursing and family. In a beautiful chapter of her life, she found love again with Marty Hall, marrying him on October 5, 1996, on a ship in New Orleans, surrounded by family. Together, they built a life rich with love and companionship. In her leisure time, Barbara enjoyed a variety of interests, including nurturing her love for flowers, embarking on travel adventures, and caring for her many cats. However, nothing brought her greater joy than her family and grandchildren, whom she adored deeply.

Barbara is preceded in passing by her parents, Albert and Edith Savage, her first loving husband, Luther Ray, and brother, Roger Savage.
