It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we gather here today to bid farewell to a remarkable woman, Barbara Jean Morris. A vibrant soul who graced this world with her presence for 87 unforgettable years, Barbara left a legacy of love and kindness on the lives she touched.
A visitation honoring Barbara will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2024 from 12-1:15pm at Ray Funeral Home with a graveside to follow in the North Cleveland Cemetery at 1:30PM
Born on a spring day in 1936 in the picturesque town of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Barbara was the beloved daughter of Edward and Dorothy Broadaway Coleman. Growing up in the embrace of her loving family, she blossomed into a young woman immersed in the values of empathy, compassion, and unwavering faith. Barbara’s life was a tapestry adorned with countless precious moments. Early in her journey, she crossed paths with the love of her life, JC Morris, during their time at Jonesboro High School. Their love shone brightly amidst the chaos of military life, as JC's dedication took them on many adventures. Through every new experience, Barbara adapted, embracing the unknown with unwavering grace. Barbara enjoyed a fulfilling career at Baxter Healthcare, where her dedication and passion for her work were unmatched. Later in life, she ventured into entrepreneurship, becoming a co-owner of a successful retail clothing store with her best friend, Kat, and daughter, Vicki. She loved going to the clothing markets along with the glitz and glamour of the clothes. Amidst the demands of work and family, Barbara nurtured her soul through a love of gardening. With hands tenderly caring for her flowers, she painted splashes of color across her surroundings. The sight of her flourishing garden became a source of solace, reflecting her enduring spirit and the beauty she found in simple moments.
Barbara’s motto was “God, Family, Church, and Country” in that order. Above all, Barbara's unwavering faith was a guiding light throughout her life. Her deep relationship with her Lord and Savior served as the foundation for her unwavering love and dedication to her family, her church, and her beloved country. As her adored ones will attest, Barbara's presence was a testament to the enduring power of faith, compassion, and resilience. She was a faithful member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.
Barbara is preceding in passing by her parents Edward & Dorothy Coleman, her loving husband JC Morris.
Barbara is survived by her loving children, Terry J(Christie) Morris of Cleveland, MS., Vicki (Chris) Braswell of Cleveland, MS., 4 grandchildren, Jessica (Chris) Holmberg of Orlando, FL., Meredith Morris of Los Angeles, CA., Tori (Ben) Jones of Houston, TX., Ashley Snider of Rising Fawn, GA., 8 loving great grandchildren, two siblings, Loretta (Joe) Eskridge of Alexandria, VA., and Eddie (Emily) Coleman of Huntsville, AL.
