Betty Gore Applewhite

Betty Gore Applewhite, 80, of Covington, TN, was called home to be with the Lord on October 20, 2025. She will be remembered as a beacon of light and love in the lives of her family and friends.

A Graveside Service honoring Betty will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Lynn Methodist Church Cemetery at 11:00 AM. Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate the beautiful life of a truly remarkable woman. As we remember Betty, we will carry her spirit of kindness and generosity in our hearts, forever cherishing the memories we shared.

Betty was Born on April 21, 1945, in Mobile, Alabama, Betty was the beloved daughter of Claude Charles and Myrtle Lee. At a young age, her family relocated to Memphis, TN, where she blossomed into a remarkable woman. Betty attended local schools and graduated from high school in Memphis before going on to earn her Bachelor's degree from what is now known as the University of Memphis.

Betty was an avid cook and devoted reader, Betty's passion for life was evident to all who knew her. Despite facing the challenges of legal blindness, she continued to pursue her love of reading, using a magnifying glass to immerse herself in the stories she cherished. Her selflessness and kindness knew no bounds, and she was always willing to lend a helping hand or share a warm smile. As a devoted caretaker to her mother, Betty exemplified nurturing and compassion in all her relationships. Most of all Betty’s greatest treasure in life was her children, grandchildren, great grand, and her fur babies.

Betty is preceded in passing by her parents, Claude & Mrytle Lee.

Betty is survived by her loving children, Norrie Gore (Marty) McClure, Virginia “Jeanie” Dowdy, Robert “Bobby” Thomas Gore, and Betty Lee Moses (Karen Baker) , Grandchildren, Jeffrey (Brynn) Gore, Jesica Gore, Tabitha Cook & four others, seven great grandchild, eleven siblings, Terea Utz, Evelyn Lee, Rosa Maria Ramos, Sergio Armando Delgadillo, Juan Carlos Lee, Luois Lee, Claude Lee, Jose Lee, Ida Lee, and Sandra Lee, extended family Bonnie Williams, Robin Dismuke, and Catherine Renee Kiddy.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes all donations be made to: Dementia Society of America. reflecting the selfless spirit that Betty embodied throughout her life. Her legacy of love will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
