Betty Sue Johnson

Betty Sue Johnson departed this world on February 5, 2026, at the age of 86.

A visitation honoring Ms. Betty will be held Tuesday February 10, 2026 at Ray Funeral Home, from 10-11am with a Celebration of Life Service following at 11am. Graveside service will follow in the Shaw City Cemetery.

Betty was born on July 19, 1939, to Henry and Lena Satterfield in Shaw MS. Betty's life was woven with threads of love, hard work, and deep familial devotion, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her. Throughout her vibrant life. Betty embraced a myriad of roles, from her tenure as a seamstress at Finevine to her time as a waitress at the Benoit Outing Club, and finally, as a devoted homemaker. Her diligent work ethic was unparalleled; she labored tirelessly, never shying away from discipline, and instilled in her family the importance of resilience, right from wrong, and a deep-seated appreciation for hard work.

An ardent lover of potted plants and the art of creating Raggedy Ann dolls, Betty's nurturing spirit extended beyond her family to her home, where greenery flourished under her attentive care. This passion for life blossomed alongside her active involvement in the Southside Baptist Church, where she found a community that mirrored her own values of love and support.

Her greatest pride, however, was her family, who were the very core of her existence. Betty poured her heart into nurturing her children and grandchildren, reveling in the joy they brought her.

Betty is predeceased by her parents, Henry and Lena Satterfield; her first husband, James R. Kline, and her late husband, Horace Johnson, her beloved son, James Freddy(Mary) Kline; and her sister, Josephine Vowell. Their loss is felt profoundly, yet Betty often spoke of them with love and reverence, carrying their stories in her heart.

She is survived by her two brothers Travis Martin (Nancy) Satterfield and Warren (Carolyn) Satterfield, her daughter, Linda (Leon) Hull; son, Earl (Dana) Kline; and her cherished grandchildren: Mary Clay Kline, James Henry Kline, Cassy (Jason) Palmer, Sam (Chelsea) Daniels ,Brandon (Leah) Johnson, Emily Johnson, and Nicholas (Kenzie) Kline, Matthew Kline, her great-granddaughters, Veronica Palmer and Ella Grace Kline, as well as her nephews Lloyd and Ricky Vowell and a host of other nephews and nieces, all of whose laughter and smiles filled her heart with joy.

Pallbearers James Henry Kline, Nicholas Kline, Mathew Kline, Brandon Johnson, Tommy Robinson and Mike Dees.

As we reflect on the rich and full life of Betty Sue Johnson, we celebrate her tenacity, her unwavering love for her family, and her joyful spirit, which continues to inspire all who were touched by her warmth. Her life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of family, reminding us that true wealth is found in the connections we forge and the kindness we share. May her memory be forever cherished.
