Betty Louise Bailey Stokes, 74, passed away Friday, May 21, 2010 at her home in Merigold, MS. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at 2 p.m. Ray Funeral Home with Bro. James McNally officiating. Burial will follow at Lambert City Cemetery in Lambert, MS. Visitation will be Monday, May 24, 2010 from 6-8p.m.
Mrs. Betty was born October 23, 1935 in Montgomery County to William Oscar and Mattie Pearl Bailey. She married Mr. James Marion Stokes. Betty spent her life as a homemaker, loving and caring for her 9 children. She loved to go to Bingo, loved the outdoors, and enjoyed spending time and caring for her dogs. Most importantly, she enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons, James Stokes (Linda) of Cleveland, William Stokes (Misty) of Ruleville, MS, Charles Edwin Stokes (Patsy) of Cleveland, and Jimmy Dale Stokes of Merigold; daughters, Floy Jean Ross (Jerry) of Fulton, Martha Louise Jenkins (Jack) of Shaw, Sara Ann Stokes of Cleveland, and Mary Francis Grantham of Cleveland; Daughter-in-law, Debbie Stokes of Gould, AR; sisters, Ethel Yeager of West Helena, AR and Pauline Mc. Knight of Cleveland, MS; 23 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William Oscar and Mattie Pearl Bailey; Husband, James Marion Stokes; Son, Robert Lee Stokes; and granddaughter, Stephanie Ross.
