Bill Hackney

Billy Pierce Hackney, 80, of Cleveland, Mississippi, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2010 at St. Luke Methodist Church with Rev. Dixie Holder-Cummings officiating. Burial will follow at New Cleveland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m Friday, April 30, 2010 at St. Luke Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
Mr. Hackney was born April 30, 1929 in Springfield, TN, to B.W. and Stella Pierce Hackney. He married Marjorie Goodyear Hackney in August 1950. They were married for 59 years. He served his country faithfully in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from University of Tennessee Pharmacy School in 1956 and served as a registered pharmacist for 54 years. They moved to Cleveland in 1962, and he was employed by Simmons Drugs, Economy Drugs and Paul’s Discount before retiring. After retirement, he worked at Gilbow’s Drug Store and Buckley’s Pharmacy. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by parents, B.W. and Stella Pierce Hackney; and brother, Wallace Ray Hackney.
Survivors include his wife, Majorie Goodyear Hackney of Cleveland, MS; daughter, Beth Heinz (Charlie) of Shelby, MS; Sons, Michael Hackney (Elizabeth) of Cleveland, MS and William Hackney (Julia) of Cypress, TX; brother, Bobby B. Hackney (Betty) of Southaven, MS; Grandchildren, Jordan Whitlach (Chris), Cameron Hacker, Will Hackney, Taylor Hackney, Anna Pierce Hackney, Brittany Heinsz, Brigham Heinsz, and Tres Heinsz.
Pallbearers will be Gillie McKibben, Mike Gilbow, Lowell Kirkbride, Ronnie Hill, Charles Heinsz, Hal Mitchell, Gene Lewis, Trayce Taylor, Billy Boswell and Taylor Roberts.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to The American Heart Association and St. Luke United Methodist Church.
