Bonnie Wanamaker

Bonnie Williams Wanamaker passed away peacefully May 6, 2026. She was born in Roundaway, MS on March 20, 1944, to Howard and Fannie Williams. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 9,2026, at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS. Celebration of Life will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at North Cleveland Cemetery.

She spent her childhood in Clarksdale with her sisters and cousins. Bonnie was very much a tomboy with a competitive edge and tried to out do them all. She graduated from Clarksdale High School in 1962. Bonnie was a member of Drew Baptist Church.

She worked for a short period of time but made her family and home a priority as a housewife and a mother. She was active as a coach in sports and gymnastics for her daughters. She was their biggest fan in all that they did. As she began having grandchildren, she would be their biggest supporter and didn’t miss much of any of their activities. She then began with the great grandchildren.

Bonnie and Jim were part of a square-dancing group called “Delta Squares” where they traveled regularly to events with other clubs. Later they were part of a club in Clarksdale known as the “Dixie Dancers.” Lifelong friendships were formed with this group of people.

Bonnie was a strong independent woman who developed a love for camping. She would take her mother and daughters camping and fishing to later be joined by Jim on the weekends.

When Jim became the Chief Engineer for the Levee Board and they moved to Greenville, she fell in love with golf. She was a member of the Lake Village Ladies Golf Association which became a lifeline for her having moved from her hometown.

While in Greenville, they joined the Delta Sam’s Camping Club, where they would go as a group to different locations every month. Bonnie was elected as an officer for the club for many years, eventually becoming the Wagon Master.

She was predeceased by her father, John Howard Williams; mother, Fannie Welch Williams; sisters, Lillie Strohm (Billy) and Dottie Haley (Harold).

Bonnie is survived by her loving husband, James Edward Wanamaker; daughters, Jamie Borgognoni (Jerry) and Teena Wells (Fred); grandchildren, Jerry Alan Borgognoni, Jr., Jennifer Pickens (Garrett), Trey Wells, and Jessica Wells; great grandchildren, Layton Borgognoni, Braelyn Borgognoni, Carson Wells, Rhett Stevens, Kash Pickens, Lilli Cate Pickens, and Archie Pickens.
