Burk Bates

Burk Bates, 85, went to be with the Lord on November 10, 2022, in Oxford, MS.  A Memorial Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Pace Pentecostal Church in Merigold, MS. 

Burk Bates was born on March 12, 1937, in Union, MS, to John Bates and Cora Busby.

 Burk served in the Navy from 1953 - 1955.  He started his career as a Chief Engineer and worked on a towboat where he retired after 40 years.

Burk married Julia Bates on in Pace, MS. The couple had 3 children, Joseph Bates, Audrey Jones, Justice Bellipanni(Rob).

Burk is preceded in death by his loving wife, Julia Bates; parents, John and Cora Bates and siblings.

Burk is survived by his son Joseph Bates (Jessica); daughters, Audrey Jones and Justice Bellipani (Rob); grandchildren, Bronson Bates, Corbin Bates, Carlee Jones, Macie Morgan Jones, Hayden Bellipanni.
