Burnham Price Whatley

Burnham Price Whatley, a beloved husband, father, and son, went to be with the Lord on December 14, 2023, in Bolivar County, MS. His departure leaves behind a void that no words can fill. Price brought joy and laughter to the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him, and his loss is deeply felt by all. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS.  A Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m.  Interment will be at North Cleveland Cemetery.

Price was born on April 4, 2000, to Tommy and Penny Whatley in Cleveland, Mississippi.    He was a caring and loving individual from the very beginning. He possessed an infectious sense of humor that could lighten even the darkest of days.  Price was adored by his family and friends for his kind heart and gentle nature. Price was named after his father and late grandfather Thomas Burnham Whatley.

After graduating from Cleveland Central High School in 2018, Price attended Delta State University before joining his father Tommy and brother Peyton at Tommy Whatley Roofing Company. Working alongside family brought him immense happiness as he cherished every opportunity to spend time with his loved ones.

While Price found fulfillment in his professional life, his true joy came from being a dedicated husband and father. His high school sweetheart Aubrey Plummer held a special place in his heart. They married September 17, 2022.  Their love story was one that had stood the test of time since their teenage years and continued to grow stronger with each passing day. They celebrated the arrival of their son Madden only five months ago, and Price embraced fatherhood with unwavering devotion.

In his spare time, Price liked watching Saints Football.  You could always catch him wearing his Saints hat backwards and drinking Juvee.  He loved watching LA thieves and playing video games with Madden.

Price's love for his family knew no bounds. He was an incredible son to Tommy and Penny Whatley of Cleveland, MS, who raised him with values of compassion and kindness. His brothers Taylor Whatley and Peyton Whatley were not just siblings but also trusted friends. Price's sister Priscilla held a special place in his heart as well, even though they argued they had a special bond from the day his little sister was born.

His family roots extended further to his grandparents: Fred "Stevie" Steven Sherwood served as an anchor in Price's life while June Hutchinson Sherwood provided him with love and guidance. Price was also greatly loved by his grandmother Lynn Winters Vick and her husband Wayne.

He is predeceased by his grandfathers, Fred “Stevie” Steven Sherwood and Thomas Burnham Whatley.

Price is survived by his loving wife, Aubrey Whatley and their son Madden; parents, Tommy and Penny Whatley; brothers, Taylor (Carly) and Peyton Whatley; sister, Priscilla Whatley; grandmothers, June Hutchinson Sherwood and Lynn Winters Vick (Wayne).

Memories of Price will forever be treasured by those who knew him. Whether it was his infectious laughter, his caring nature, or his ability to make anyone smile, Price left an indelible mark on the hearts of those around him. His legacy will live on through the love he shared and the memories he created.

In this time of immense grief, let us come together to celebrate the life of Price Whatley — a devoted husband, a loving father, a cherished son, and a dear friend. May his spirit find eternal peace and may his memory forever be a source of comfort and inspiration for all who were fortunate enough to know him.
