Mrs. Carmen Velazquez Santiago was called home to be with the Lord on July 11, 2019. A visitation will held from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m., Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Our Lady of Victories of Cleveland, MS with Mass beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Victories.
Carmen was born on April 19, 1927 in Comerio, Puerto Rico to the late Jose P. Velazquez & Providencia Santiago. She raised her two children on her own while maintaining a job and furthering her education. Carmen spent fifty years as a paralegal secretary before retiring. She is a very devout catholic. Carmen spent much of her free time volunteering at the church in various aspects. She also prepared many children as a catechist and for First Communion. Most of all, she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who adored her church family and her Lord and Savior.
 She is preceded in death by her parents, Jose P. Velazquez and Providencia Santiago; her brothers, Benjamin Velazquez and Angel Luis Velazquez
Carmen is survived by her sister, Reina Esther Velazquez; her daughters, Wanda Lee Cooper of San Juan, Puerto Rico and Mildred Sinkular of Ruleville, MS; her three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
