A celebration of Carolyn's life will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Cleveland, Mississippi, on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., with visitation at the church from noon-1:45 p.m.

Carolyn McLelland, a beloved wife, mother, sister, friend and faithful servant of Jesus, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025, at the age of 89.

She was born January 11, 1936, in Columbia, Mississippi, to Manson Lafayette McDaniel and Eunice Victoria Dunaway McDaniel. Carolyn was preceded in death by her devoted husband, James Calvin "Peck" McLelland, and her two siblings, John Dennis McDaniel, Sr., and Doris Luvenia McDaniel Ross.

She is survived by her daughter, Kristi McLelland, who carries her legacy of faith, service, and ministry forward; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and several friends who were like family.

At the age of 19, Carolyn married Peck, and together they made their home in Cleveland, Mississippi, where she remained for the rest of her life. Their mutual love and commitment to hospitality led to a lifetime of ministry and service to their church and community.

Carolyn was a dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church where she served for decades in a multitude of ways. She loved people through food and hospitality, through opening her home and setting her table for meaningful fellowship and community. She welcomed people with warmth, kindness and joy.

Carolyn will be remembered for her deep love and encouragement of people, her unwavering faith, and her joyful spirit. Her life was a reflection of grace, service, and friendship, and she will be missed dearly by who all knew her.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church in her honor.
