Caryn McCaleb Brister

Caryn McCaleb Brister, 60, of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
Visitation will be held Saturday, February 8 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Cleveland, with a Celebration of Life Service immediately following at 3 p.m. with pastors Billy Owen and Will Wilkerson officiating.
Caryn is survived by her husband, Michael Mortimer Brister, of Cleveland; children and their spouses, Naron Brister Remillard and Jason Remillard, of Birmingham, AL; and Collins Brister and Summer Brister, of Birmingham, AL; her granddaughter, Emma Lou Brister; her parents, Jim Hunter and Pat McCaleb, of Cleveland; her sister and brother-in-law Cristyn and Bruce Holder, of Cleveland; and a host of nieces and nephews. Caryn was a 1981 graduate of Delta State University, and majored in Elementary Education. She raised hundreds of children from in-and-around the Cleveland area with her sister Cristyn at their grandmother Helen Naron's day-care, Pat's Nursery.
Caryn was an avid reader and life-long member of First United Methodist Church in Cleveland, where she sang in the Chancel Choir. A devoted fan of Mississippi State University, she often spent weekends in Starkville, cheering on the Dawgs at campus sporting events. She especially enjoyed spending time reading, singing, and attending MSU events with her granddaughter, Emma Lou Brister.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the MSU foundation in honor of Caryn Brister Memorial Scholarship, P.O. Box 6149, Mississippi State, MS 39762.
