Charles William Harmon, Jr, 72, died October 7th in Memphis TN after a long struggle with heart failure. Charles was born in Greenville MS on December 10, 1952. He was the son of Charles William Harmon Sr. and Sophie Richard Harmon. He attended St. Joseph Catholic High School. He was married to Johnnie Williams Harmon for over 43 years. He worked for many years at US Axminster in Greenville and later retired from Uncle Ben’s Greenville.
Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church in Cleveland, MS, on October 11th at 10 AM with funeral Mass to follow at 11 AM. Burial will be at Lehrton Cemetery in Ruleville MS.
Charles was an active member at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was an honorary life member of Knights of Columbus Council 2134 in Greenville. He served as Grand Knight and also as state youth director. He loved his time as scout master for his sons’ Knights of Columbus troop #71.
Charles was totally devoted to his family. He loved ice cream, cheese sandwiches, and anything his wife cooked. He experienced great pleasure from family camping trips with his sons.
He was predeceased by his parents and his son, James Wiley Blalack.
He is survived by his loving wife, Johnnie, his son, Charles Harmon III (wife Tammy), grandchildren William and Lauren Harmon, Allie Blalack Clem (Bo), sister Charlotte Murrell, nephews Park Kellum, Brad Kellum, and Jay Steed.
Pallbearers are William Harmon, Bo Clem, Brad Williams, Brad Kellum, Park Kellum, Jay Steed, Randy Bradshaw, and Lester Richard.
Memorials can be made at charity of donor’s choice.
