Clarence Leon "Buck" Beckham Jr., 83, of Shaw went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 7, 2020. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 12, 2020 at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Cleveland, MS.
Interment will follow immediately at Shaw Cemetery with a visitation afterwards. Masks will be required in the church and social distancing will be observed. Overflow seating for the service will be available in the church fellowship hall. Buck was born November 26, 1936 to Clarence and Amelia Beckham in Shaw, MS. He graduated from Shaw High School, Mississippi State College, and the United States Army War College. Buck served as the President of the Cleveland Federal Land Bank for almost twenty years and as a real estate appraiser for over twenty years. He was an avid reader, who enjoyed history, and outdoor photography. Buck was a charter member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder for thirty-eight years. He was a founding member of the Shaw Educational Foundation which organized Bayou Academy. Buck retired from the Mississippi National Guard as a Lieutenant Colonel. More than anything, he loved hunting and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Amelia Turpin Beckham and C.L. Beckham.
Buck is survived by his loving wife, Marie Gulley Beckham; sister, Clare Beckham Luke; daughters, Lisa Beckham Sledge (Robert) and Blair Beckham Floyd; son, Clarence Leon Beckham, III "Lee" (Joanne); grandchildren, Meredith Sledge McDowell (Morgan), Lauren Frances Sledge, PFC William Cameron Floyd, Duncean Beckham Floyd, and Adeline Kathleen Beckham; great grandchild, William Morgan McDowell, Jr.; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
