We are devastated and pained to announce the death of the most amazing son, husband, father, and friend. Cliff Medders passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, at the age of 38. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at Ray Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Covenant Presbyterian Church with Rev. Tim Starnes officiating. Interment will follow in North Cleveland Cemetery.
If you knew him, you couldn't help but love him. Cliff was a friend to everyone he met and a source of strength for all who knew him.
A native of Rosedale, Cliff attended Bayou Academy where he graduated Valedictorian in 1998. He then attended Mississippi State University. While in college, he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BS in Civil Engineering in May of 2002. Following graduation, he went to work for Cives Steel Company in Rosedale, MS. Cliff was a Senior Project Manager and was also a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Mississippi. On August 13, 2005, he married Jennifer Lynn High in Tupelo, MS. Cliff was an Eagle Scout in 1995 and referee for MAIS from 2005 to 2017. He was an avid hunter and reader.
Cliff was a firm believer in Christ and a witness to many. He found his church home at the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Cleveland, MS. No matter the trial or circumstance, his faith never wavered.
Cliff had been battling cancer for the last 16 years. After exhausting all treatment options, he had prepared himself for the end. He was surrounded by his loved ones and at peace when the final moment came.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Auburn and Emma Medders; and maternal grandfather, Gary W. Seymore, Sr.
Cliff is survived by his beloved wife of 13 years, Jennifer Medders of Cleveland; son, Owen Medders of Cleveland; mother, Angela S. Medders of Cleveland; father, C. B. Medders of Benoit, MS; sisters, Melissa Weeks (Mark) of Wayside, MS and Priscilla Wade of Niceville, FL; maternal grandmother, Janice Seymore of Benoit; and mother and father-in-law, Henry and Lynn High of Tupelo, MS.
Pallbearers will be James Russell, Winn Scott, Brian Nettles, Gary W. Seymore, Jr., Andrew Yee, and Marshal Conico.
In Memory of Cliff, he requests donation be made to Cancer Research Center.
