With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Clifton Ray Horne, a beloved son, cherished friend, and a vivid spirit who graced our lives with laughter and love. Ray who was from Oakland, MS yet formerly of Cleveland, MS, passed on November 21, 2025, while surrounded by his family.
A Visitation honoring Mr. Horne will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 1:30-2:00PM Ray Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:00PM following the visitation at Ray Funeral Home.
Ray was born on May 26, 1950, in Parchman, Mississippi, to his devoted parents, Michael and Ruby Howard Horne. He was a affectionately known as “Boy” or “Ray Baby” by his family and friends.
Ray's love for music filled his days with joy, and his laughter was a constant source of light for those around him. He had a gift for bringing smiles and warmth to every gathering. Whether strumming his favorite tunes or sharing stories from his adventurous life, Ray’s infectious spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
For many years, Ray poured his heart and soul into his work as a riverboat pilot, each voyage a chapter in the tapestry of his life. Ray found peace in retirement and the open road, steering his motorcycle through the landscapes that filled his soul with peace. He shared his heart with beloved cat, “Little One”, whose companionship brought him comfort and joy. Ray now leaves us with a legacy rich in friendship, adventure, and laughter. He will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
He is preceded in passing by his father, Michael Horne and his Loving Companion of over 20 years, Judy Wilkerson.
Ray is survived by his loving daughter, April Horne Little of Cleveland, MS, grandchildren, Alex, Cooper, and Anna Kaye Little, sister Betty (Vernon) Robinson, brother, Edward “Booger” (Barbara) Horne, nephew, Buddy Robinson, nieces, Belinda Eldred, Crysti Horne, Mandy Christmas, cousin, Brady Horne, and a host of family and friends.
May we carry his laughter in our hearts and his spirit on our journeys, as we bid farewell to a remarkable soul.
The family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, continuing Ray’s legacy of kindness and compassion.
