Dixie Belle Doyle Shaffer

Mrs. Dixie Belle Grimes Doyle Shaffer, 89, of Boyle, passed away Friday, March 8, 2019, at her home.  Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at Ray Funeral Home.  Celebration of Life services will immediately follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Haney officiating. Interment will be in North Cleveland Cemetery.
Mrs. Shaffer was born in Benoit, MS, on January 11, 1930, to Thomas Eugene Grimes and Florence Nola Beevers Grimes.  In her younger years, she attended Benoit and Skene Schools. After the passing of her first husband, Edgar Earnest Doyle, she married O. T. Shaffer in 1973.  She worked for many years at Tile Plant and Baxter's Laboratory; and upon her retirement, she and her second husband owned and operated Dixie Yard Sale and Beulah Lake Boat Rental.
Mrs. Shaffer was an amazing cook who greatly enjoyed making biscuits, and to hear people brag on them would bring a smile to her face. She was known for always taking care of others and would take time out of her own life to make sure people made it to their appointments and always had a warm meal on their tables.  She greatly enjoyed traveling with her friends, and took many bus tours across the country with them.  At home, she could be found outside working in her vegetable garden.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Edgar Earnest Doyle and O. T. Shaffer; parents, Thomas E. Grimes and Florence Nola Beevers Grimes; and many siblings and beloved family members whom she missed dearly.
Mrs. Shaffer is survived by her son, Gene Doyle (Robbie Mathis) of Boyle; step-daughter, Tammy Sligar (Jim) of Texas; grandchildren, Tonya Youree (Richard) of TN, Kayla Doyle of Boyle, and Logan Sligar of Texas; great-grandchildren, J. C. Youree, Tristan Youree, Shontae Youree, Reagan Mangilardi, and Scottie Sligar; brothers, Earl Grimes of Leland and Frank Grimes of Tunica; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In memory of Mrs. Shaffer, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
