Dorothy Johnson

Mrs. Dorothy S. Johnson, 89, of Shelby, Mississippi, passed away at Bolivar Medical Center, Tuesday, June 21, 2011. Visitation will be Thursday, June 23, 2011 at First United Methodist Church in Shelby from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.. Celebration of life service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church on Thursday, June 23, 2011. Burial will follow services in Shelby Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson was born December 8, 1921, in Memphis, Tennessee to Alston M. Short and Elizabeth Cobb. She worked for the Bolivar County Bank and retired after eighteen years. Mrs. Johnson was a longtime member of the First Methodist Church in Shelby.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Billy Wayne Johnson; and brother, Maurice A. Short.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her son, George Bruce Johnson (Maria) of Shelby, MS; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Loyd (Bob) of Myrtle Beach, SC; four grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Justin Johnson, Patrick Johnson, J.J. Duraj, Jr., John Duraj, Lyle Dilworth, and Gene Cobb.
Memorials may be made to the First Methodist Church in Shelby or charity of your choice.
