Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church on Friday, May 12th, 2023 from 12:00 pm 1:00 pm followed by a celebration of life service from 1:00 pm 2:00 pm at the same location. The interment will take place at New Cleveland Cemetery from 2:00 pm 2:30 pm.

Dot Poe Ray, went to be with the Lord on May 10th, 2023 at the age of 89. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many.

Dot was born on February 3rd, 1934, and grew up in Benoit. She later attended Shaw High School where she played basketball. She had a love for music and enjoyed singing in the church choir at Calvary Baptist Church and First Baptist Church. She worked at Baxters and also attended cosmetology school, opening her own beauty salon named Dot's Klip and Kurl where she made many friendships over the years.

After the death of her husband Howard "Buck" Poe, Dot reconnected with an old high school friend named Paul Ray. They married and had wonderful adventures together traveling until Paul's death. After that loss, she lived alone until moving to Indywood and later Azalea assisted living where she continued to make new friends and enjoy life playing bingo.

Dot loved her family dearly and cherished spending time with them. She was called Mama Dot by many people including her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even their friends who loved her like their own grandparent. Her homemade biscuits, cornbread dressing, chicken and dumplings were legendary as well as her country-fried steak with gravy. She always made sure everyone was well-fed with delicious food.

She is survived by her children; Kim Poe Smith (Joe), Ricky Alan Poe (Tess), grandchildren; Dr. James E. Warrington III "Trey" (Amanda), Dr. Zachary Poe Warrington (Mary Beth), Valerie Brooke Warrington Morris (August), Ryan Howard Poe (Fiance-Shelby), Ross Hester (Win), Searcy Smith Rhodes (Richard), sister in law;  Jackie Crowe. great-grandchildren: Ella James Warrington, Grisham Warrington, Pierson Warrington, Rylan Warrington, Abigail Warrington, John Benton Warrington, George Morris, Wren Morris, Jane Hester, Josie Hester, Rob Hester, Lexie Scott Hollis.

Dot was preceded in death by her parents; John and Eddie Crowe and brother; John E. Crowe. husbands; Howard "Buck" Poe and Paul Ray. grandchildren; Jessica Allyn Poe, Jamye Kitrell Poe and Ryan Sawyer Poe nephew; Michael Crowe.

Dot will be fondly remembered for her sweet soul and kind heart. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
