Eleanor Buckley Trimble

Eleanor Buckley Trimble, 109, of Ruleville passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023. Mrs. Trimble was born on November 10, 1913, to Jake Robert and Fannie Elizabeth Buckley. She graduated from Ruleville High School in 1932, Sunflower County Junior College in 1934, and Delta State Teachers College in 1936 with a degree in math and science.

Mrs. Trimble began her teaching career at Enteprise School in Pike County, Mississippi where she taught for 4 years. She taught for 6 years at Carmack School in Attala County and for 10 years at Ruleville High School in Sunflower County. After retiring from the public school system, she served as librarian at the Ruleville Public Library for 10 years.

She married Billy Trimble on October 22, 1937 and together they had 2 children, Billy Buckley and Laura Jane. She was a longtime member of Ruleville Baptist Church and faithfully attended the Lydia Senior Adult Sunday School class.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Billy Trimble, her parents, Jake and Fannie Buckley;2 brothers, Paul Buckley and Robert Buckley; 4 sisters, Sue Burnett, Nancy Faulkner, Floyce Wilson, and Juanita Buckley.

She survived by her son, Buck Trimble (Betty)  of Taylor, Texas; her daughter, Jane Waldrup (Tommy) of Cleveland; her sister, Fay Stratton of Osceola, Arkansas; 5 grandchildren, Stacy Upton, Kim Gravell (Rip), Shea Combs (Brian),  Craig Waldrup (Linda), and Kate Kohls (Matt); 8 great-grandchildren, Ethan Upton, Addison Upton, Clark Lucas (Evan), Claire Gravell, Aubrey Combs, Holden Kohls, Ellie Kohls, and Lilly Kohls; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 10:00 am to 11:00 am Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Ruleville Baptist Church in Ruleville, MS.  Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11:00 am with Robert Haney and Bobby Turner officiating. Interment will be at Lehrton Cemetery in Ruleville, MS.  Donations in Mrs. Trimble’s memory can be made to Ruleville Baptist Church, 364 N. Ruby Avenue, Ruleville, MS 38771.
