Mrs. Ferguson was born on March 1, 1941, to J.A. Robertson and Bessie Robb Robertson, in Ruleville, MS. She received her education at Ruleville schools and Delta State University. On April 7, 2006, Ann married El Hugh Ferguson at Yale Street Baptist Church. Ann retired from Tibbs Clinic after working there for 39 years and kept in touch with her Tibbs Clinic family over the years.
Ann was a member of Yale Street Baptist Church and loved her church family dearly. She always liked to arrive early to make sure she had plenty of time to fellowship with the members before each service. While at Yale Street, Ann sang in the choir for several years until her health would not allow it; was a substitute teacher for her "Merry Heart" Sunday School Class, and was the Discipleship Training Director.
If you knew Ann, you know she loved to talk and never met a stranger, no matter where she was. They could be in the meat department of Kroger, at the self-checkout there, at the Chrystal Grill in Greenwood, doctor's offices, Belk (where she loved to shop), at South Street Pharmacy-no matter where she was, she loved to talk and made many special friends along the way. In those conversations, she always got around to the question "Do you know where you are going when you die?" She loved to tell people about her Savior, Jesus Christ.
If Ann wasn't shopping or going to her favorite restaurant, you could find her in her chair with her dog, Benji, in her lap watching Fox Network or QVC. When you visited her home, she always took pride in showing some of her most recent purchases.
Ann had a love for Christian books to help her grow spiritually, for gospel music and loved to attend the Gaither->If Ann felt you needed some "love", she was known for giving ladies lotion from Bath and Body-people in the grocery store, nursing home, restaurant, etc. For the men that she felt needed "love", she would bake tea cakes and give a tray to them. Many have received the delicious treat, making her known as "the tea cake lady". Near the holidays, Ann could be found in her kitchen making divinity and peanut brittle. She would sometimes make twenty batches each of divinity and peanut brittle to share at the holiday. Many people will miss this sweet, delicious gift.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jackson Allen Robertson and Bessie Robb Robertson; her first husband, William (Billy) Salley; and brother Clarence Robertson.
Ann is survived by her husband, El Hugh Ferguson of Cleveland, MS; brother, Jack Robertson of Ruleville, MS; niece, Sandra Russell (Joey) of Ruleville, MS; nephew, Dough Robertson of Ruleville, MS; special friend, Paula Salley Williams of Cleveland, MS; step daughter, Cindy Ferguson Sims of Drew, MS; and her special pet, Benji.
