Elizabeth Cooper Ellis, 91, of Cleveland, MS passed away on Tuesday, November 12th at Walter B. Crook Nursing Facility in Ruleville, MS. Visitation will be Friday, November 15th at 10:30a.m. -11:30a.m. at Ray Funeral Home with the service immediately following. It will be officiated by Brother Brad Beckett and Milton Burd. A graveside service will be held Friday, November 15th at 3:00p.m. at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery in Cruger, MS with Brother Leon Holly officiating.
Elizabeth was born October 30th, 1928 to Lewis and Minnie Cooper in Union Grove, AL. She married James W. Ellis. She worked at Baxter Healthcare for 25 years. She was a loving mother and faithful Christian. Her grandchildren were her passion. She enjoyed watching them play sports and cooking her famous dressing, chicken and dumplings, and chocolate pie for them. She also enjoyed cheering on the Atlanta Braves baseball team. She was an active and faithful member of First Baptist Church in Cleveland.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Minnie Cooper; husband, James W. Ellis; son, Rodney B. Ellis; sister, Rebecca Davis; brothers, Dan Cooper, Hollie Cooper, and James Cooper.
Elizabeth is survived by daughters, Brenda E. Dean (Mike) of Cleveland, Gail E. Pentecost (Ed) of Cleveland, Debbie E. Wilkerson (DeWayne) of Independence, MS; son, James W. Ellis, Jr. (Becky) of Algoma, MS; brother-in-law, Robert Ellis (Debra); grandchildren, Nat Dean (Jennifer), Kim Dean Price, Chad Ellis (Emily), Kirk Ellis (Stephanie), Ashley P. Williams (Brent), Eric Pentecost, Wesley Ferrell (Chrissy), Ronnie Ferrell (Sarah), Jessica E. Hood (Jordan), and Matt Ellis; great grandchildren, fifteen and one due November 26th.
Memorials may be made to Nolan's Neighbors Heart Center in care of Batson Children's Hospital of Jackson, MS or the charity of your choice.
