Frances Louise Gilbert Campbell

Mrs. Frances L. Campbell, 90, of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at Bolivar Medical Center.  Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 28, 2019, at Ray Funeral Home.  Celebration of Life services will follow beginning at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2019, at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Haney officiating. Interment will be in Delta Heights Memorial Garden Cemetery.
Mrs. Campbell was born on April 14, 1928, to George and Olive Gilbert in Skene, MS. Frances graduated from Skene Consolidated School in 1947. She married Alvin Campbell in May 1947. They had three children, Jimmy, Cindy, and Darren.  Her children were her life as she made being a homemaker her priority. She then had four grandchildren, Turner, Dustin, Lauren and Lindsey.  As she made her way into her late 80's along came her precious great-grandchildren Peyton, Brooklyn, Westin and Jack.
Frances loved to sew and cook. She always tended to her garden and had a perfectly manicured yard. Her favorite past time was singing, writing songs, and playing piano and her guitar; especially with her sisters and nieces. She was a member of Yale Street Baptist church where she taught Sunday School and Training Union. Frances loved flowers and her beds showed it. She gardened many flowers from azaleas, roses, and verbena to spider lily, hydrangeas and daffodils.
Frances loved her family. Even though being 1 of 12 siblings, she was always the "Mother Hen" of the family. Frances will be missed and her love for her family will never be forgotten.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Campbell; parents, George C. Gilbert and Olive Mockbee Gilbert; brothers, Harold Gilbert, Lewis Gilbert, George Gilbert, Jr., Harley Gilbert; and sisters, Martha Bunch, Dorothy Smith, Ruth Morgan, Betty Carroll, Clara McClain, Gladys Gordon, and Lorene Oswalt.
Mrs. Campbell is survived by her daughter, Cindy Wood of Cleveland; two sons, Jimmy Campbell (Dianne) of Vicksburg and Darren Carroll (Peaches) of Cleveland; four grandchildren, Turner Wood (Jennifer) and Dustin Carroll (Leslie), Lauren Carroll (Daniel), and Lindsey Carroll; great-grandchildren, Peyton Carroll, Brooklyn Taylor, Westin Wood, and Jack Ozbun.
Pallbearers will be Brent Barrett, Brian Bishop, Scott Fuquay, Brad Horton, Kent Wilburn, and Wes Williford. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Cleveland Volunteer Fire Department.
