Genell Taylor, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away at her home on October 13, 2025, at the remarkable age of 96.

Genell was born on January 28, 1929, in Union City, Tennessee, to Alvin Lee Hoffman and Lottie Morene Hoffman. Genell found the love of her life and married Howard Lemuel Taylor on October the 26th, 1946 in Ripley, TN. After this Genell spent much of her time raising her family and working for 28 years at Baxters. Throughout her life, Genell's unwavering faith was a guiding light. She loved teaching Sunday School, sharing her knowledge, and love of faith with those around her at Calvary Baptist Church. Her dedication to her church community will be profoundly missed, as she enriched the lives of many with her heartfelt teachings. Genell found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved to read, and had a knack for sewing that allowed her to create cherished pieces filled with warmth and care. Her cooking brought happiness to those lucky enough to try some of her meals, and her love for gardening resulted in a vibrant array of flowers that blossomed in her yard. Genell lived a life rich in love, compassion, and dedication and was a true pillar of her family, nurturing the bonds that connected her to her loved ones.
She is survived by her devoted children, Darrell Wayne Taylor, Donna Maria Taylor (Doug) Yates, and Jerry Dean (Vickie) Taylor, along with a cherished host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as all those who affectionately called her “grandma”.
Genell is preceded in death by her husband Howard Lemuel Taylor, her parents Alvin Lee Hoffman, Lottie Morene Hoffman, her sons Howard Daniel "Danny" Taylor, David Edward Taylor Sr, Richard Lemuel "Dicky" Taylor, her grandchildren Rita Taylor, Ricky Taylor, her great-grandchild Susan Taylor, her bother Thomas Hoffman, and sisters Annie-Ruth Worrell, and Nancy Geary.
The family would like to give special thanks to Genell’s caregiver Rose Allen, and her caregiver/granddaughter Rhonda Prado for all the love they showed in the care of Genell Taylor.
