Mrs. Geraldine "Gerry" Boatman Brock, 91, of Drew, passed away Friday, October 5, 2018, at Bolivar Medical Center. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at Drew Baptist Church. Celebration of Life services will immediately follow beginning at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at Drew Baptist Church with Rev. William Kirkpatrick officiating. Interment will be in Drew Cemetery.
Mrs. Gerry was born in Greenwood, MS, on October 16, 1926, to George and Leona Boatman. On April 3, 1948, she married Charles Franklin Brock, Sr. in Greenwood, MS. She worked for over 30 years in Retail with her longest employment being with Sunflower Food Store. Most people remember her and her dear friend, Katherine Williams, working together and the amount of talking the two could do at the store.
Mrs. Gerry's life was centered on her God, church, and family. She was involved in multiple church groups such as WMU, XYZ Club, and she taught Sunday School for over fifty years. Until she became immobile, her hobby was visiting her friends and the "sick and elderly" even though she was older than most the people she visited.
She greatly looked forward to going to heaven especially after Charles Sr., her husband of 69 years, passed away. She dearly loved her grandchildren, Laney and Carley; and she continued to keep up with her nieces and nephews up to her last days on this earth.
Mrs. Gerry is preceded in death by her parents, George and Leona Boatman; husband, Charles Franklin Brock, Sr.; three sisters; and two brothers.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Charles F. Brock, Jr. (Jan) of Cleveland; grandchildren, Laney Brock and Carley Brock both of Cleveland; sister-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Goodwin of Greenville; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Drew Baptist Church: Jack Windham, Randy Gray, Warren Griffin, Walter Hagan, Jimmy Russell, and Arvin Flemons.
