Helen Daugherty

Helen Louis Daugherty, 84, of Shaw, MS went to be with the Lord Friday, October 1, 2021. A visitation will be held 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS with a Memorial Service immediately following. Helen was born June 27, 1937 to Henry and Ruby Shockley in Truman, AR. She moved to Jonestown at a young age where she graduated high school. Helen married Lavelle Daugherty October 29, 1979 in Cleveland, MS. Helen was a member of Interstate Baptist Church. She worked as a cashier for Baxter in the food service department for over 25 years. Helen was an avid shopper who was always looking for a bargain. In her spare time she loved to read, but most of all she loved to cook and could make some of the best pecan tarts you have ever eaten.
She is predeceased by her parents, Henry and Ruby Shockley; husband, Lavelle Daugherty; son, James Paul Shive; daughter, Lisa Margaret Dial; sister, Sue Nichol; grandsons, David and Justin Mullen. Helen is survived by her sons, Terry Shive (Connie) of Leland, Calvin Mullen (Terri) of Thibodaux, LA, Troy Daugherty of Astor, FL, and Ryan Daughtery of San Francisco, CA; grandchildren, Ronnie Shive (Leslie), Wesley Shive (Stephanie), Lorne Shive (Emily), Leslie Shive (Stefni), Jade Dial, Randy Box (Cory), Josh Box (Stacey), Brian Daugherty (Amber), Blake Pepper, Caitlin Daugherty, and Denton Daugherty; 20 great grandchildren; special daughter-in-laws, Mitzi Pepper and Brenda Mullen; best friends, Elizabeth Gray and Nell Taylor. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Hospital in her honor.
