James Dreher Bobo, a cherished member of the Cleveland community, passed away on January 8, 2026, in Whitfield, MS. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM, both taking place at the First United Methodist Church, located at 318 South Court Street, Cleveland, MS. A Graveside Service will follow at Beevers Cemetery, in Cleveland, MS.
James was born on December 19, 1953, to Woodrow and Doris “Elaine” Bobo in Cleveland, MS, and led a life dedicated to his faith, family, and passions.
James served on the kitchen staff at Delta State University for a few years, where he made a lasting impact with his hard work and dedication. His sharp memory not only helped him in his career but also in the many relationships he nurtured throughout his life. He was a valued member of the First United Methodist Church, where he found great joy in his belief in Jesus Christ and was an active participant in his Sunday School Class.
Known for his love of country music, James delighted in attending concerts and capturing memories through photographs with various artists. His fondness for animals of all kinds was well known, showcasing his gentle spirit and love for all living beings.
James is remembered fondly by his family and friends. He is survived by his brothers-in law John Elliott and Watt Bishop; nieces Lori Bobo Whitfield (Charlie), Hannah Whitfield, Madison Whitfield, Taylor Case and Azalea Gibb; nephews Todd Bobo, Lyndon Bobo, Brian Bobo (Sunni), Hawke Bobo, Aiden and Jaxon Thompson and Beau Gibb (Cambria).
James was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Elaine Bobo, brother Todd Bobo, and sisters, Diane Bishop, and Betsy Elliott, as well as special friends Jeannie Rush and Rodney Thompson.
James Dreher Bobo leaves behind a legacy filled with love, laughter, and a profound appreciation for the simple joys of life. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
