James Haynes

JC (James) Haynes, a beloved car salesman and a dedicated family man, passed away on May 22, 2025, at the age of 81. A visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, Mississippi. Celebration of Life will immediately follow, at 10:00 a.m. The day will conclude with a graveside service at North Mississippi Veterans Cemetery in Kilmichael, Mississippi, at 2:00 PM.

James was born on November 8, 1943, in Chillicothe, MO to Gerald and Marjorie Haynes and throughout his life, he was known for his warmth, generosity, and passion for connecting with others. He married Janice Blough on August 15, 1982 in Milford, IN.James proudly served in the Marine Corps, a testament to his commitment to serving his country. After his military service, he became a car salesman, for over 30 years, earning a reputation for his honesty and excellent customer service. His passion for old trucks and cars was well-known among family and friends, and he often shared his love for cooking and cold beer with those around him. JC was a person who never met a stranger; his charismatic personality and genuine love for people made everyone feel welcome in his presence. He embodied kindness, often expressing this through his desire for tight hugs.

James was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Haynes, and mother, Marjorie Davis, who nurtured the values and love that remained with him throughout his lifetime.

He is survived by his loving wife, Janice Haynes, who stood by his side through life's many adventures. His legacy continues through his children: Sherry Haynes, Kelly Johnson (Deb), Stacey Zarras (Lee), James Cody Haynes (Stephanie), Abigail Meredith, and Andrea Pawling (Andrew). JC was a proud grandfather to his grandchildren: Kirsten Borrel (Bobby), Brittnee Johnson, Mackenzee Johnson, Corey Zarras (Lydia), Alex Zarras (Reagan), Riley Haynes, Eliza Haynes, Maddox Meredith, Maverick Meredith, Addy Rayl, and Adalyn Pawling. Additionally, he is remembered fondly by his sister, Gloria Phalp (Steve), brother, Phillip Haynes (Sandy), sisters-in-law, Trudy Racine (Rick) and Michelle Blough, along with three great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews who will cherish the memories they created together.James Haynes leaves behind a remarkable legacy of love and friendship that will resonate within the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will continue to live on through the many lives he touched and the bonds he built with family and friends.
