James Henry Pate

 Mr. James Henry Pate, 72, passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at Merit Hospital in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2018, at Ray Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2018, at Ray Funeral Home with Brother Breland officiating. Interment will be in Rome Cemetery.
James was born on January 15, 1946, to James and Francis Virginia Pate, in Quitman County. He worked as a groundkeeper for years then retired but still liked to stay busy. He always enjoyed being outside in the fresh air. After retiring he assisted with cleanup in the cafeteria. James had a heart for others and tried to help when he saw a need.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Virginia Pate; brother, George Harvey Pate; and paternal grandparents, Harvey and Lorean Pate.
James is survived by aunt and uncle, Mae and Loyd Ainsworth; sisters, Lynn Bamburg, Sue Henry (husband, Wade), and Francis Ann Jones (husband, Emmett); brothers, Henry Pate (wife, Carol) and Freddie Pate (wife, Lisa); nieces, Melissa Brown, Samantha Woodcock, Jennie Rogers, and Kristy Deaton; nephews, Chris Pate, Jason Austin, and Joshua Austin; and numerous friends and loved ones.
Pallbearers will be Freddie Pate, Henry Pate, Emmett Jones, and Roger Havens. Honorary pallbearers will be James Loyd Ainsworth.
