James Kendall Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, and dedicated servant went to be with the Lord on September 1, 2024, at the age of 87 in Ruleville, Mississippi. Graveside Service was held at Delta Heights Memorial Garden Cemetery.
James was born on October 2, 1936, to P.A. and Mamie Kendall in Itta Bena, MS. He dedicated 20 years to working at Baxter Healthcare. His service in the Navy also reflected his dedication to the greater good, showcasing a life devoted to assisting others.
A man known for his kind-hearted nature; he cherished his family above all. James was passionate about fishing, hunting, and playing guitar, hobbies that brought him joy in his leisure time. He enjoyed sharing these interests with his loved ones, strengthening the bonds that held his family together.
James was a long serving member of Gideons International. He faithfully served others through distribution of God’s Word proclaiming the Gospel in area churches.
Above all, James was proud of his faith, loved serving the Lord, and striving to lead others towards a relationship with Jesus. His life was a testament to his commitment to his beliefs and the impact he made within his community.
He is preceded in death by his parents, P.A. and Mamie Kendall; his wife and mother of his children, Joyce Kendall; his sisters, Maxine K Timms and Linda K Lindsey; and his brother, Wilburn Kendall.
He is survived by his children, James Kendall Jr. and wife Lydia of Boyle, MS; Jackie Finley and husband Gerald of Cleveland, MS; and Joette Holland and husband Don of Biloxi, MS. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Dr. Brent Roberts and wife Kristen of Boyle, MS; Kendall Deel and husband Ricky of Madison, MS; Virginia Lauren Kendall Mitchell and husband Dr. Andrew of Starkville, MS; Shelby K Branning and husband Dustin of Brandon, MS; and Joely K Holland of Biloxi, MS; great grandchildren, Eleanor Jane Branning, Amelia Claire Branning, Dakota Deel, Zoey, Deel, Ainsley Deel, Addilyn James Deel, Berchman Delahoussaye, Archer Delahoussaye, Cassidy Wilson, and Preston Brent Roberts.
James Kendall will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family and his passion for life. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and commitment that will endure in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
The family would like to express their appreciation to his caregivers Ollie Smith, Shirley Moore, and Tara Cooper.
