James Pearson

James William (J.W.) Pearson, Jr., aged 78 years, passed on to heaven peacefully in his sleep at the Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis, TN. on august 15, 2011 at 1:25 p.m. He was a Deacon at the Gunnison Baptist Church for 30 years and one of the last commercial fisherman in this area.
He was born to James and Irene Pearson on August 6, 1933, in Vance, MS. A long time charter member of the Donaldson Point Hunting Club, he was an avid hunter, trapper an fisherman.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years and 11 months, Beatrice Montez of Gunnison, MS; daughter, Brenda Nethery (Jimmy) of Gunnison; sons, Lamar (Debbie) of Holcomb, MS and Duane of Cleveland, MS; grandchildren, Brad Fielder of Los Angeles, CA, Bobby Pearson (Nicole) of Lexington Park, MD, Michelle Brown (Jerry) of Grenada, Ms, Stephanie Dunn (Jason) of Elliott, MS, and Hayden and Tyler Pearson of Cleveland, MS; great grandchildren, Kristen Adams, Amari Bell, Emily Brown, Lexi Brown, Jerlyn Brown, Christopher Russell and Wyatt Starns.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Irene Pearson; brothers, Travis, Roger and Ira; and granddaughter, Jamie Renee Dorsey.
Celebration of life services will be on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gunnison Baptist Church with visitation from 1:00-2:00p.m.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Hayden, Tyler and Bobby Pearson; nephews Jimmy Russell and Brian Alford and friend Jerry Usery. Honorary pallbearers are Randy Townsend, Floyd Sanders, Mike Thompson, David Woods, John D. Hubbard and Billy Bassie.
