Jeffie Whitworth Gill Bruce

Mrs. Jeffie Whitworth Gill Bruce, 83, of Cleveland, MS, passed away Monday, April 4, 2016, at Bolivar Medical Center. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will be 10:00 Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Harris officiating. Interment will follow in North Cleveland Cemetery. Mrs. Bruce was born in Marks, MS, on December1, 1932, to Leland Oscar Gill and Ardis Rutherford Leech Gill. On February 12, 1951, she married James Everett Bruce at Fourth Square Church in Cleveland, MS. She was a talented seamstress who utilized her skills by sewing for others as well as her family for many years. Mrs. Bruce was a proud member of Church of God of Prophecy. She loved to pick on people and enjoyed the company of others, especially that of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her great-great grandchild. Her family and church worship were her world. In her spare time she loved reading the newspaper and keeping up with current events, working crossword puzzles, listening to gospel music, and her weekly visits to the Beauty Nest.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leland Oscar Gill and Ardis Rutherford Leech Gill; husband, James "Jim" Everett Bruce, Sr.; her sisters, Lela Kemp and Moni May Gill; and brother, George Thomas Gill. Mrs. Bruce is survived by her daughter, Sandra Lamb of Benoit, MS; son, James "Jim" Bruce, Jr. (Judy) of Bella Vista, AR; grandchildren, Dawn Lamb James (Mike) of Brandon, Michael Lamb (Missy) of Merigold, Jeff Bruce (Stephanie) of Fayetteville, GA, Josh Bruce (Kara) of Rogers, AR, and Ashley Peterson (Aaron) of Rogers, AR; great-grandchildren, Lauren Ashley Gentry, Jayda Lamb, Brandon Barrett, Colby Bruce, Christian Bruce, Paisley Bruce, Chandler Peterson, and Chloe Peterson; great-great- grandchild, Brailyn Marie Cummins; brothers, David Gill of Artesia, MS and James "Buddy" Gill of Shaw, MS; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Michael Lamb, Jeff Bruce, Josh Bruce, Christian Bruce, Wilson Moorhead, and Colby Bruce.
