Jerry Junkin, a cherished member of the Cleveland community and a dedicated Brick Mason, passed away peacefully at his home on May 14, 2026.
A visitation will be held on May 18, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Ray Funeral Home, located at 206 Bishop Road in Cleveland, Mississippi. Following the visitation, a funeral service will commence at 2:00 PM in the same location, allowing family and friends to honor Jerry’s life and legacy together. The day’s commemorations will conclude with a graveside service at North Cleveland Cemetery on N Bayou Road, beginning at 2:45 PM.
Born on November 19, 1946, in Cleveland, Mississippi,to Sam and Hazel Junkin , Jerry devoted over 45 years of his life to his craft, beginning his career immediately after finishing school. His hard work and skill were evident in every project he undertook, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.
Jerry was a man who genuinely loved being outdoors. He found joy in hunting and fishing, activities that allowed him to connect deeply with nature. Among his favorite pastimes was sitting under his carport in the spring, engaging in heartfelt conversations with his family. His love of talking to both friends and family was a defining aspect of his personality, reflecting his warm and approachable nature , often found at either Vince's Auto or Georges Lawn mower services , chatting with friends often till noon.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Sam and Hazel Junkin, and his brother Freddie Junkin who no doubt welcomed him back with open arms.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda Junkin, who stood by his side throughout their life together. His family also includes his son, David Junkin, and David’s wife, Angel. Jerry took great pride in his grandchildren—Sam Junkin and his wife Pamela, and granddaughter Peyton Junkin—as well as his great-granddaughters Baylee and Haley Junkin. His siblings, Jimmy Junkin and Sammie Junkin, remain by his family’s side in mourning and remembrance.
Jerry Junkin’s steadfast dedication to his craft, his love for the outdoors, and his genuine affection for those around him leave behind a lasting legacy. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories forged through his kindness, wisdom, and enduring spirit will remain treasured by all who knew him.
