JoDonna Watson, a cherished member of the Cleveland MS community, peacefully passed away on March 18, 2026, in her hometown. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS. Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m.
JoDonna was born on October 30, 1957, to James Durwood and Laverne Ruth Watson. She was a devoted worker whose dedication and professionalism were felt by all who had the privilege of working alongside her.
A proud high school graduate, JoDonna’s life was marked by her unwavering commitment to service, both professionally and personally. Beyond her career, she was known for her active participation in her community. She served as a Justice Court Judge, was a respected member of the Chamber of Commerce, and frequently lent her support as a volunteer at the beginning stages of the Grammy Museum Mississippi. Her passion for involvement extended deeply into local politics, and she made significant contributions to the Bolivar County Community Action Shelter, demonstrating her steadfast dedication to improving the lives of those around her.
JoDonna was preceded in death by her beloved parents, James Durwood and Laverne Ruth Watson, her cherished grandson, Jonathan Parker Watson, and her lifelong best friend Lisa Horn Shaffer. Their memories remain forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
JoDonna’s legacy is lovingly carried forward by her family and many friends. She leaves behind her devoted companion of over 40 years, AB Cox, her sons Justin Watson (Emily) and Paul Cox, (Dene). Along with a remarkable group of grandchildren: Jackson “Jack Jack” Watson, Trace Cox, Shannon Cox, Maddie-Michael, Emma Hughes, Adlynn Hughes, and Zachery Hughes. She is also survived by her sister Stacy Powell, as well as her brothers Bob and Bo Watson. JoDonna’s extended family includes nieces and nephews Mike Powell, Kristi Powell, Colton Watson, Cameron Ringe, Cade Watson, Carter Watson, Caroline Edwards, Madelyn Watson, Dalton Watson, and Michael Powell. Her presence enriched their lives immeasurably, and her memory will continue to inspire and guide them.
JoDonna Watson’s life was one of dedication, kindness, and service. Her contributions to her family, community, and the love she shared with her friends will be remembered with the deepest respect and affection. She will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
