John Wright

John Wright, 87, of Ruleville, MS, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2022, in Memphis, TN.  He was born in Linn, MS, on July 4, 1935.  He grew up in the Roundaway community and graduated from Linn Consolidated School in 1953.  Afterward, he attended Sunflower Junior college and Mississippi State College, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management in 1957.  He briefly worked in Natchez, MS, then moved to Baton Rouge, LA, where he owned and operated a welding business until 1978.  He then farmed in the Mississippi Delta until his retirement in 2005.  He and his wife, Rosemary, were also in the antique business in the Delta for more than 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Edna Harpole Wright, brothers, Carvelle, Paul and Billy Joe Wright, sisters Sybel Catlett, Marjorie Johnson, Bettye Jane Cooper and Ruth Short Easom.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Gatewood Golden Wright, sons, John Clifford, Joseph Mark, Timothy Christopher and daughter, Christina L Garza (Danny), stepson, Robert Owen Golden (Sarah), stepdaughters, Leigh Ann Reynolds (Bret) and Lisa Melek (Bekir), grandson, Jeffery Garza (Stephanie), granddaughter, Rebekah Garza, two great grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 6 nephews and 5 nieces. 

Visitation will be Thursday, December 22, 2022, at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS, at 11:00 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at Linn Methodist Cemetery.
