John Leland Yarbrough Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home in Cleveland, Mississippi, on December 19, 2025, at the age of 69. A graveside service will be held at Shaw Cemetery in Shaw, Mississippi.
John was born on April 11, 1956, to John and Jenny Yarbrough in Cleveland, MS. He married Charlotte Jean Hoop on June 19, 1976 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Shaw, MS.
John was an accomplished graphic designer and artist, dedicating over 40 years to his craft by founding and running John Signs and Company. Known for his artistic vision and dedication, he spent countless hours in his shop, creating signs that not only adorned businesses but also brought joy to the community. His dream was his lifeblood; it fueled his creativity and spirit, and he cherished every moment in his sign shop, fostering friendships with customers who became like family.
Those who knew John experienced not just his artistic talents but also his warmth and compassion. There is not a soul who met our precious John who didn’t feel deeply loved. His beautiful wife, Charlotte Yarbrough, was his everything. They began their love story when they were just teenagers. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter.
John’s pride and joy were embodied in his daughter, Dana Yarbrough Hobby, and her husband, Cliff. His grandsons, Cullen James Hobby and Grayson John Hobby, were the apples of his eye, bringing immense joy and laughter into his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Yarbrough Sr. and Jenny Olmi Yarbrough; a trio of remarkable women who raised him as their own, Leisa Sandroni Olmi (Nona), Josie Olmi, and Viola Olmi; his brother, Gregory Lee Yarbrough; nephew, Gregory Lee Yarbrough Jr.; and sister-in-law, Debra Ann Yarbrough.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 49 years, Charlotte Yarbrough; daughter, Dana Yarbrough Hobby and her husband, Cliff; grandchildren, Cullen James Hobby and Grayson John Hobby; father-in-law, Mack Hoop; mother-in-law, Ollie Hoop; sister-in-law, Vicky Giompoletti; brother-in-law, Henry Giompoletti; niece, Jennifer Stacey Yarbrough (Brian, Isabella, and Riley Crouch); and nephew, Jason Giompoletti (Abbie, Henry, James, and Eli).
John was larger than life, leaving a big hole in the hearts of all who loved him. His ability to connect with those around him was unparalleled, and to know him was indeed to know Jesus. His legacy, marked by the love he shared and the joy he brought to us all, will continue to inspire those who were blessed to have known him.
