Jon Rayner Meyer

Dr. Jon Rayner Meyer was born on September 15,1947, to John and Carolyn Meyer and died on August 10,2025, after a long and valiant struggle against cancer.

Jon was a proud member of Kappa Sigma fraternity during his time at Millsaps College and afterwards attended UMMC medical school.He was a retired emergency room physician who worked for years with MEA covering many emergency rooms in south MS and later in the MEA clinic system.

Jon lived in Jackson,MS, but his heart was always in the Mississippi Delta town of Merigold where most of family and lifelong friends still reside.He will be remembered for his quick wit, intelligence, deep faith, love of outdoors and nature and his fierce loyalty to his family and friends.He enjoyed many activities including wildlife photography, woodworking, birdwatching, hunting, caring for his dogs and trips to Africa.He was a communicant of both St. Phillips Episcopal Church of Jackson and the Merigold Methodist Church.

Jon is survived by his mother Carolyn "Cack" Meyer, wife Dr Cindy Allen Meyer, daughter Katherine Patterson (Chris Blaine) ,granddaughter Whitney Patterson, siblings Susan Anderson (Doug), Jim Meyer (Mitsi), Ed Meyer (Louise) and many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express special thanks to Dr John Clark Henegan and his staff for excellent and compassionate care of Jon throughout his illness.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Wounded Warriors, St.Phillip's Episcopal Church, or the Merigold Methodist Church.
