Joyce Elizabeth Applegate

Mrs. Joyce Elizabeth Figg Applegate, 89 of Rosedale, MS passed away Saturday, May 2, 2020 at her home. Graveside service will be held Monday, May 4, 2020 at Beulah Cemetery. Mrs. Applegate was born in Lynchburg, VA on September 15, 1930, to Russell and Clarice Figg. She married Harry C. Applegate Jr. on November 7, 1946 in Rosedale, MS. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rosedale. Joyce loved to read, sing, paint, crochet & knit. She never met a stranger and loved being around people. She worked in the education system as a librarian for twenty years as reading was very important to her. Her house looked like a picture out of Southern Living magazine. She is preceded in death by her parents, Russell Robert & Clarice Everette Figg; husband, Harry C. Applegate Jr.; daughter, Katherine Clarice Applegate Warfield; sons-in-law, Allen Warfield and Gene Wooten; brothers, Russell Robert Figg Jr. and George Preston Figg. Mrs. Applegate is survived by her daughter, Wanda Joyce Wooten; sons, John W. Applegate and Rusty Applegate (Becky); brother, Howard Everette Figg; grandchildren, Billy Wooten, Andrea Beaudette (Jack), Trey Grisham (Lindsey), Stevie Grisham (April), Emery Grace Applegate; great grandchildren, Mikaela Weems, Anna Cress, Paisley, and Mallie Grisham. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Rosedale Public Library, Sacred Heart or First Baptist both of Rosedale or a charity of your choice.
