Larry Jones

Larry Duncan Jones, 80, of Beulah, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025.  Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS.

Born in Cleveland, Mississippi, to JT and Irma Lee (Duncan) Jones, Larry was raised in Doddsville on Eastland Plantation and attended Ruleville High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.

Larry worked for many years at Ampco in Rosedale, MS, and later with the Mississippi Department of Transportation, from which he retired. He built a life he loved in Beulah, fishing, cooking, and visiting with friends, and he took his greatest pride in his children and grandchildren. He had a great sense of humor, loved his jokes, and never missed a chance to tell stories about the days gone by, always ready with a story and a laugh.

Larry is survived by his children: Jennifer Knighten of Ocean Springs, MS; Jacki Morgan (Kenny) of Cleveland, MS; and Jeff Jones (Amy) of Madison, MS. He was known as “Big Larry & Poppie” to his grandchildren, Shelby Knighten, Ty Morgan, Brittany Sibley, Kaylen Cummins, and Greyson Jones, and his five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Charles Jones and Orville (Bonnie) Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents, JT and Irma Lee Jones, and his brothers, Richard Lee Jones and Gene Paul Jones.

Family and friends will remember Larry for his steady work ethic, easy conversation, big laugh, and the way he always made room at the table.
