Lewis Ellis Sellers, 82, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at his home in Shaw, Mississippi, surrounded by his family.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 5th at 10am, with a celebration of life following at 11am. A graveside service will be held immediately after, at the Shaw Cemetery.

Lewis was born on November 16, 1943, in Choctaw, Mississippi to Lewis “Fat” and Josie “Cutie” Sellers. Lewis lived a life rich with dedication, love, and service. Lewis attended school at Shaw and later completed vocational courses in welding, electrical, and mechanical at Mississippi Delta. He managed Pleasant Farms and Gin in Shaw for approximately 30 years. Lewis worked another 18 years at Baxter Healthcare as a maintenance mechanic.

Lewis joined the Army straight out of school and set the tone for a life filled with commitment and service. He was a deacon at Shaw Baptist Church for more than 20 years. He was also a proud member of the American Legion #123.

Lewis cherished his family, his wife, children and grandchildren.

Lewis is survived by his wife, Ellen McMurry Sellers, his daughters, Scarlett Brower of Coldwater, MS and Tish Givens (Chad) of Cleveland, MS, his grandchildren, Morgan Brower of Coldwater, MS(Diego Valenzuela), Mason Givens (wife Connor) of Oxford, MS, Chandler Givens (Connor Thistle) of Starkville, MS and Seth Givens (fiancé Kaylee Williams) of Starkville, MS, his sisters, Evelyn Fuxa (Tom) of Fort Lupton, CO and Mary Coker of Clinton, MS, his sister-in-law, Ruthie Sellers of Shaw, MS, and his aunt, Louise Walters, of Shaw, MS. He is also survived by 5 nieces and 3 nephews, 12 great nieces and 9 great nephews, 9 great-great nieces and 1 great-great nephew. His legacy lives on through memories shared with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis “Fat” Sellers, his mother, Josie “Cutie” Spivey Sellers, his sister, Katherine Lee (Paul), his brother, Willie Sellers, his brother-in-law, Kenny Coker, his uncle, Bob Walters, his granddaughter, Magan Brower, and niece, Stephanie Sellers Beevers Williams.

Pall bearers will be Chip Moore, Jeff Jackson, Brad Whatley, Blake Whatley, Mason Givens, Seth Givens, Diego Valenzuela, and Connor Thistle.

Honorary Pall Bearers will be Alex Allegrezza and the Shaw Baptist Church Deacons.

The family would like to extend gratitude to Lewis’ caregivers, who have become family, Ollie Smith, Shirley Moore and Rosie Allen.

The family would also like to extend appreciation to Heart of Hospice employees for their compassion, empathy and love shown to Lewis during his time in hospice care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or to the National Kidney Foundation.

As we celebrate the life of Lewis Ellis Sellers, we remember a man whose heart was big enough to encompass love for this family, service to his country, and a spirit of generosity that touched everyone around him. His presence will be profoundly missed, but his legacy will continue to flourish in our hearts and the memories that we hold dear.
