Linda Joyce Upton passed away peacefully May 24, 2025. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS Celebration of Life will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at New Cleveland Cemetery.
Linda was born on January 3, 1951, in Gunnison, Mississippi, to James William and Burdie Chaney She was a beloved member of her family and a cherished figure in her community.
Linda dedicated much of her life to a fulfilling career in the food industry, where her hard work and dedication left a lasting impact. Upon her retirement, she embraced her passions for fishing and gardening, finding joy in the simple pleasures of nature. However, it was her love for family that defined her life the most. Linda thrived in the company of her loved ones, nurturing relationships that spanned generations.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James William and Burdie Chaney, as well as her brothers William Marshall Chaney, Albert Chaney, and Larry Chaney.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, Marion Lee Upton; sons, Marshall Weeks and Tim Weeks; daughter, Melanie Bell (Terry). Linda's legacy continues through her grandchildren, Garrett Weeks (Savana), Steven Lowery, Kevin Weeks, Meagan Farrow (Matt), Tesla Weeks, Rebecca Tipton (Billy), Cescily Weeks, and Rachael Weeks. She also leaves behind six great-grandchildren: Shambria Spearman, Braylynn Lowery, Kacee Tipton, Macy Farrow, Mattie Farrow, and Micah Weeks, each one a testament to the love she shared throughout her life.
Linda comes from a large and loving family, including her brothers Roy Chaney (Malinda), Billy Chaney, J.W. Chaney, and Lonnie Chaney (Martha), and her sisters, Luvenia Farmer (Nick) and Brenda Chaney.
Linda Joyce Upton will be remembered for her generous spirit, her love for the outdoors, and the profound connections she fostered within her family. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched with her warmth and kindness.
