Louis A King

Louis Alison King, Jr, 76, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2024 at the Elison Assisted Living of Oxford, MS where he was loved and cared for (and danced with) by their many wonderful caregivers.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 18 at 11am- 12pm at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS with a graveside service to follow at 12:15pm at New Cleveland Cemetery.

He was born September 18, 1947 in Lexington, MS to Louis Alison King and Gwindolyn McRae King.   After being raised in the MS Delta, Louie attended Mississippi State University and graduated from Delta State University.  He had a successful career in banking and finance that took him to Louisiana and Tennessee before returning home to Cleveland, MS where he retired from banking and worked part-time with the Cleveland Country Club Golf shop.  Louis was an avid golfer and passionate MS State Bulldog, the latter being a constant source of loving rivalry with his Ole Miss Rebel children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 41 years, Wanda Sue King.

He is survived by his three children: Louis (Skip) King, III of Brandon, MS; Jenifer King McMillan (Vince DeGutis) of Oxford, MS; and Tyler King of Cleveland, MS; as well as his three precious grandchildren; Kailey King, Caden King and Andie McMillan.   He is also survived by his three brothers: James King of Dothan, AL; John King of Columbus, OH; and Andy King of Fayetteville, AR.  Louis leaves behind his two cats Batman and Robin who were loyal companions and fierce guardians for 14 years.

He was loved and will be missed immensely.
