Marie Boswell

Marie Boswell, 84, of Cleveland, MS, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 7, 2023.  A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2023, at St Luke United Methodist Church.  Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m.  The graveside service will be at the Delta Heights Memorial Gardens on Highway 8 East.

Marie was born to Brewer and Winnie Hutchinson on August 17, 1938, in Cleveland, MS.  She graduated from Cleveland High School and later received a bachelor's degree in teaching from Delta State University.  She married the love of her life Billy Boswell on January 9, 1960, in Greenwood, MS.  Marie was a loving wife, mother, and exceptional teacher at Shaw High School for 25 years.  She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and on the 'Kitchen Crew' there.  Marie had a significant impact on many young lives. Her dedication to teaching earned her respect from both colleagues and students. She had a passion for teaching and spent much of her life sharing her knowledge with students.  She loved Delta State sports, especially baseball.  Marie was a remarkable cook and cake-baker.  Her cake decorating skills were outstanding, and she was always willing to help friends and family with their events.  Marie loved traveling in her RV to visit loved ones and create memories. She was an active Delta SAMS Travel Club member, BPAC Ambassador, and an Order of the Eastern Star member.  She was also involved in the Cleveland Women's Club.  In her spare time, she was a member of a local card group where she loved to play and spend time with the other ladies.  Her passion for life was evident and she was always giving back to others.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Brewer and Winnie Hutchinson, son, Ken Boswell and brother-in-law Clyde Boswell. 

Marie is survived by her loving husband,  Billy Boswell; son Billy Boswell II (Patti); sisters,  Brenda Priest and  Glenda Looney; brother, Brewer Hutchinson (Kelly); brothers-in-law Curtis Boswell (Joy) and Jimmy Boswell (Antoinette); sister-in-law Pam Boswell; nephews Jason Priest; Jimmy Langston (Sherry); Todd Boswell(Lisa); Bryan Boswell(Callie); Corey Boswell(Kristen); Haaken Boswell; Craig Boswell; nieces, Kimberly Henderson(Tim); Missy Milbrand; Kim Phillips; Stephanie Strowd; Heather Card (Marc); and Melaine Melton.

Marie will always be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished family member.

The family would like to offer thanks to her caregivers during the past weeks: Dr. Steven Clark, entire staff of Bolivar Medical Center, North Sunflower Medical Center and Delta Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.  
Pallbearers will be Clay O'Reilly, Robert Burford, Jason Priest, Jim Wanamaker, Tim Henderson, Bill Middleton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude or St. Luke United Methodist Church.
