Marine Cole

Marine McKnight Cole, 92, of McComb and formerly of Cleveland, MS, died June 4, 2010 at Camellia Estates in McComb. She was born November 25, 1917 in Cleveland. She was the daughter of Joseph Abner and Ruby Dean McKnight. She was retired from Delta State University after 32 years as Administrative Assistant to the Business Manager. She was a 1935 graduate of Cleveland High School and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Cleveland. She was a member of the Cleveland Garden Club, Cleveland Woman’s Club, Community Bible Study of Greenville, MS and DSU Alumni Association. In 1990 and 2001, Mrs. Cole was the recipient of the DSU Alumni Association Service Award and the Robert L. Elliott DSU, H.L. Nowell Real Hero Award.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Wilson Cole and a brother, James McKnight.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Mike Wimberly of Summit, MS; two grandchildren, Michael Wimberly and wife, Jennifer of Natchez, MS and Ellen Wimberly Carr and husband, Ty, of Madison, MS; four great-grandchildren, Tanner and Tripp Wimberly of Natchez and Emma and Anna Carr of Madison.
Friends and family are invited to visit the family at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb Sunday from 1PM until 3PM. Visitation continues Monday at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland from 1PM until services at 2PM with Rev. Joe Cole and Rev. Milton Burd officiating.
